The mother grain in fact it was considered sacred during their civilization's not even a real grain. it's a seed.  it's pronounced quinoa Qu I Noa. Quinoa and this is quinoa raw uncooked and it's the finished product. it's very easy to prepare it cooks just like rice you boil it, it was called the mother grain but that was a misnomer because it's really a seed but it's one of the healthiest natural vegetarian protein sources you can eat. it's the only one of the few vegetarian proteins that have all nine essential amino acids including lysine which is great for your healing for your body and for your rug for your flesh.

It also has five grams of fiber per one cup of cooked quinoa and it's high in trace minerals like magnesium, manganese, iron, zinc, and even copper. So it's a really nutritionally dense food and it's also a complex carbohydrate which means that it digests more slowly in the system than something like starch. So something maybe like a potato or white rice or something that's a little more starch heavy.

Quinoa digests a little bit more slowly meaning that it will keep you fuller for longer, will keep you more satisfied. It has longer-lasting energy capabilities.

1. White Quinoa

White quinoa is the most common form of quinoa. It's the one that is the most frequent. the most recipes for made by white quinoa. It's definitely the most common. It's really great for all types of applications. It's got a very mellow flavor, really fluffy, it cooks in about 15 minutes. it has any sort of like crunch or anything like that. It works well in salads, it works well with breakfast food. There's really like no end of possibilities of using white quinoa. It's also the cheapest which is great, I would definitely stick to white quinoa. It's definitely the most affordable of all the varieties. it's also the most accessible.

2. Red Quinoa

The second most widely available type of quinoa is red quinoa. Similar to the white it cooks up like you would make rice. The only thing is that it definitely has a different flavor and texture. Red quinoa is much crunchier, it has a denser texture. It definitely tastes a little bit nuttier and because of that, it has fewer applications. it's great for salads. It's really good like mixed into a salad or a grain bowl because it's so crunchy. It's also a little bit pricier than the white quinoa but it still has a great nutritional value. And if you are somebody that's like, sick of white quinoa or you like stuff that's really crunchy in your salads, adding cooked red quinoa would be perfect.

3. Black Quinoa

Black quinoa is the rarest. You don't really see black quinoa very often similar to red quinoa it's very crunchy, it has kind of a nutty flavor. And it's definitely the most pricey I guess of the kind just because it is kind of rare and it's harder to find. It has the same applicability as red quinoa.

So it's really good in salads. you could mix it in with a grain bowl, use it as a grain base. But It wouldn't really use in soups. breakfast, porridge, or anything like that 'cause it just doesn't have that like fluffiness to it that white quinoa has.

4. Rainbow Quinoa

Tricolor quinoa and it's actually not a type in and of itself. I would say that it is used similar to red and black. It definitely has a fluffier texture because it incorporates white quinoa. And it's really great in salads. You use tricolor quinoa in salad and it's delicious. It has a fluffy texture, it also has crunch, and it's colorful and it's really pretty. This also works well for a breakfast cereal. if you wanted to because it does have that crunch factor mixed with the fluffiness. 
Again, those are the types of quinoa that are the whole seed itself. So similar to like a whole grain of rice, you cook it like you do rice. So you add it with water. It's a one-to-two ratio, so one cup of quinoa to two cups of water. And you cook it for about 15 minutes until the water's been absorbed and the grain is nice and fluffy. So those are our top four. The next three are different varieties of that whole grain that have been put into different forms, I guess you could say.

5. Quinoa Flour

Quinoa flour is my absolute favorite gluten-free flour of all time. it is absolutely amazing. It has the nutritional properties of whole quinoa but it works so well in baked goods, especially gluten-free baked goods because it has a lot of protein. Gluten is a protein. So gluten helps with things like structure, that is the protein nature of it. Gluten also helps binding but that's a whole different thing. But protein-wise quinoa flour is high in protein. So it will help with the structure of your baked goods.
quinoa flour is a really kind of light and easy flour. it's one of the staple gluten-free flours. you should have it in your pantry if you are on a gluten-free diet and you like baking. it's the greatest. So quinoa flour is made out of whole-white quinoa. So essentially they just take the whole quinoa seed, the white quinoa, grind it into flour, and you use it just like that. If you do find that quinoa flour is a little bit bitter, which some people do think has a bitter aftertaste or a bitter taste to it, you can toast your quinoa flour.

6. Quinoa Flakes

Quinoa flakes are similar to rolled oats. in the sense that you take the whole white quinoa seed and run it through a grain flake. So I haven't liked to see the process happen but I equate quinoa flakes to quick-cooking oats. So they cook, really really quickly. They cook in about 60 to 90 seconds. if you're making them like oatmeal. And they are very thin, they have a really light and fluffy texture and they are awesome. it's very useful in breakfast cereal.
Quinoa flakes are used in breakfast cookies. It uses in baking all the time. they're great. they're a really great way to sneak in some nutrition and they're just like something. I always have on hand. if you're especially looking for something that's quick and easy for the morning, a quinoa breakfast cereal using quinoa flakes is like the best, you can't beat it. you can cook quinoa like your oatmeal. in your liquid, cook it until it's thickened and you're good to go. And like, literally it takes about 90 seconds.

7. Quinoa Crispy/Quinoa Puffs

These are kind of obscure. you can say but essentially they are a crisped version of the whole quinoa seeds. So like you would get a Rice Krispy, that kind of cereal where they crisp the grain. They do the same thing with quinoa and it turns into a crispy cereal like Rice Krispies. So you can use quinoa crispy in Rice Krispies. any person can use it as a crunchy topping. They're really great in salads. They're good on top of things like mac and cheese. They're good on top of a ton of different things. quinoa crispy are awesome, It uses them a lot in granola. Even just like a topping on a smoothie bowl.
If you can't get access to quinoa crispy because they're definitely a little bit harder to find, you have to buy them online. you can actually make quinoa crispy at home. they're great. I would say try all the other things instead of the quinoa crispy because you can make them at home.

Recipes Of Quinoa

In this article, I'm sharing with you three quinoa recipes. It's very easy and simple recipes, that they're perfect to pack for lunch, and you can eat the hot or cold, and they're delicious both ways. Today, I'm learning you. Chinese fried quinoa, tangy Thai quinoa, and cheesy broccoli quinoa. All three of these are protein-packed, they're super delicious, and they're all vegetarian.
The best part about them is that if you wanted to add meat for extra protein, you could. You could easily add some shredded chicken or steak, or even a little bit of canned tuna. So let's start by learning how to cook our quinoa. Now, it used to be that you would rinse your quinoa first, most quinoa now comes already rinsed, so you don't have to sweat it.
In my quinoa recipes, I have used vegetable stock. You can also use chicken stock, beef stock, mushroom stock, or just plain water, all will do, it's depend on your choice. stock gives the quinoa an additional level of flavor. A ratio of two to one is ideal. So basically, you want two parts liquid to one part quinoa.
You're going to bring it to a boil, and then reduce the heat to a minimum, put the lid on, and leave it for 15 minutes, just let that simmer. After 15 minutes, turn off your heat and let it sit for another five minutes, while it continues to absorb all that delicious liquid. I've already cooked off my quinoa for my recipes. so when I make a quinoa recipe I will use my cooked or boiled quinoa. Now we write our first recipe.

1. Recipe of Chinese fried quinoa

Ingredients:

  • Quinoa cooked or boiled = two or three cups
  • Sesame oil = 2 tsp (You can also use canola oil or vegetable oil)
  • White onion small = 1
  • Garlic cloves chopped = 1 tsp
  • Carrots chopped = 4 tablespoon
  • Boiled Peas = 4 tablespoon
  • Eggs = 2 (optional)
  • Soy sauce = 1 tsp
  • Hot sauce = 1 tsp
  • Salt = as you required
  • Green onions = 2 tablespoon

Method of Preparation:

I have quinoa standing by, and then, in my frying pan, I'm going to add some sesame oil. You can also use canola oil or vegetable oil in this dish, but you don't want to use something with a low smoke point like olive oil, that will burn way too quickly as our pan heats up.
we've heated up our sesame oil in the pan. It's a bit nutty and delicious you can smell it. To that, we're going to add small white onion and some garlic cloves chopped. We're want to stir this up until it gets translucent. Once it's reached that point, we are going to add some carrots and some boiled peas. We're going to let those fry up for about two or three minutes until they just start to soften up a bit. Then, we're going to move all of this delicious veg over to the side and we're going to fry, in the same pan, eggs.
The moment they hit this pan, they're going to start scramble so be prepared to be on it. And, we're just going (scrambling) them a lot, we don't want them to burn, and it's that easy. if you don't like to add the eggs, if you want to make this dish vegan, that's no problem, super simple, just leave the eggs out, but I find it's nice additional protein. I'm just going to cut it into little bits and salt, and then I'm going to mix it all together.
Then we're going to toss in our cooked quinoa, give it a good mix, then pour in a splash of soy sauce, a little bit of hot sauce, if you like the heat, and then finish it with some green onions. You don't want to put them in before because you don't want to cook them, you want them to stay fresh, and boom. Chinese fried quinoa is absolutely delicious and perfect for lunch.
Then we're going to toss in our cooked quinoa, give it a good mix.

Tangy Thai quinoa got a lot of crunches and a lot of flavors. Now, let's talk about our second recipe.

2. Recipe of Tangy Thai quinoa

Ingredients:

  • Quinoa = two or three cups
  • Red cabbage shredded = 3 tablespoon
  • Carrot shredded = 3 tablespoon
  • Red pepper = 1 tsp
  • Edamame beans = 2 tablespoon
  • Peanut butter = 1 teaspoon
  • Honey = 1 teaspoon
  • Lime juice = 1 tablespoon
  • Soy sauce = 1 tablespoon
  • Red chili flakes = 1 pinch
  • Salt = as you required
  • Garlic clove = 1
  • Ginger grated = 1 teaspoon
  • Shrimp or Chicken fried = 1 tablespoon

Method of Preparation:

I have quinoa already cooked standing by. Into quinoa, I'm going to add some shredded red cabbage, some shredded carrot, and some red pepper. This is all going t add a whole lot of crunch. Then I'm going to add edamame beans, which are super delicious and a great protein source, and then set it aside while we make our dressing.
So we have about a teaspoon of peanut butter standing by, we're going to add a little honey for sweetness, the juice of half a lime for some nice sour, some soy sauce, salt and then, some red chili flakes for heat. Finish it with one clove of garlic and some freshly grated ginger. Give it a good stir. If you're feeling like it's too thick, you could add a little more soy sauce, or just add a drizzle of oil to it, and then pour it all over your tangy Thai quinoa.
This stuff is absolutely unbelievable, and the best part is, it's great on its own, or you could add some fried shrimp or a little bit of chicken. It's really versatile.

3. Recipe of Cheesy Broccoli Quinoa

Ingredients:

  • Quinoa = 1 cup
  • Vegetable stock = 2 cups
  • Head of broccoli = 1
  • Salt = as per your taste
  • red pepper = 1 pinch or required to taste
  • Paprika = 1 teaspoon
  • Cheddar cheese = 1 cup

Method of Preparation:

we are starting with two cups of vegetable stock and one cup of quinoa. We're going to pour that into a saucepan and let it come to a boil. Once this boiling, we're going to turn our heat down to low, put the lid on, and let it simmer for ten minutes. I am starting with one head of broccoli.
Just going to cut off the stalk. Don't throw the stalk. This is absolutely amazing in soup stocks, and also great for things like coleslaw, you could actually just shred it up and put it right in. It's delicious. At the ten-minute mark, we're going to toss in our broccoli, put the lid back on, and let our broccoli steam for that last five minutes of cooking.
Once those five minutes are up, we're going to turn off our heat, then we're going add a good helping of salt and a little bit of pepper. We're also going to add some paprika. Then, we are want to stir in one cup of sharp white cheddar, and we're going to put the lid back on, let it sit for five minutes, and boom, you have this delicious cheesy broccoli quinoa is ready.
